ILLNESS POLICY
Here at Discoveries we aspire to protect the health of all the children in our care. We do this by implementing an illness policy that applies to all of the children who attend the crèche.
We go to great lengths to ensure that the environment your children spend their day in and the toys they play with are sterilised and cleaned according to Health Board regulations. This helps to prevent the cross contamination of germs and bacteria's.
As we know all children are prone to picking up bugs and common childhood ailments like coughs and colds. In order to help us prevent the spread of common childhood illnesses we would ask parents to keep their child at home if they are unwell or if you suspect that they may need to attend the GP. If your child is prescribed an anti-biotic they would be unable to attend the crèche for a period of 48hrs. After this we can administer your child's medication, provided you have signed a medical consent form. A medical consent form must be signed for any medication to be administered; forms are available from any member of staff on request.
If your child becomes unwell during the day, exhibiting, for e.g., some of the symptoms listed below, we will call you to come and collect him/her. We understand that teething and common colds will be a regular occurrence and we are more than willing to offer any pain relief that you see fit. We will monitor your child's progress during the day and keep in regular contact with you by phone. Any ailment that could be seen as contagious we would ask you to come and collect your child straight away.
